구글의 퀴어문화축제 축사

구글이 ‘2014 한국 퀴어문화축제’에 함께 합니다

 

국내 성소수자들의 문화행사인 ‘2014 한국 퀴어문화축제’가 올해로 15회를 맞이하였습니다.

 

우선, 서울에서 진행되는 한국 퀴어문화축제에 구글이 공식적으로 참여하게 된 것을 무척 기쁘게 생각합니다. 구글이 한국에서 성소수자 축제에 공식 참여하는 것은 올해가 처음입니다.

 

구글은 직원들이 ‘있는 그대로의 모습으로’ 일하기를 장려합니다. 따라서 구글은 전세계 70여 개 이상의 사무실에서 직원들이 자기 모습 그대로 생활하고 성장할 수 있는 업무 환경을 만드는 데 최선을 다하고 있습니다. 나아가, 구글은 직원들이 일할 때 뿐만 아니라 사무실 밖에서도 이처럼 ‘있는 그대로의 모습으로’ 생활하기를 바랍니다.

 

사무실과 직원들은 전세계 곳곳에 흩어져 있지만, 차별반대에 대한 구글의 믿음과 생각은 어디서나 동일합니다. 구글은 성소수자 권리 지지에 앞장서는 것에 대해 자부심을 느끼고 있습니다. -- 물론 가야할 길은 아직 멉니다.

 

구글은 지난 수년간 세계 각지의 퀴어 퍼레이드에 참여해 왔습니다. 약 7년 전 미국 샌프란시스코를 시작으로, 뉴욕, 런던, 부다페스트, 더블린, 텔아비브, 시드니, 도쿄, 암스테르담 및 싱가포르 등에서 퀴어 퍼레이드에 구글은 함께해 왔습니다. 그리고 드디어 올해 서울에서 열리는 퀴어 퍼레이드에도 참여합니다!

Proud to be at Korea PRIDE 2014

Congratulations on ‘Korea Queer Culture Festival 2014’! Specially on its 15th Annual Festival this year.

We, Google, are very happy to be a part of this Korea festival for the first time.

At Google, we encourage people to bring their whole selves to work. In our more than 70 offices around the world, we’re committed to cultivating a work environment where Googlers can be themselves and thrive. And we want all of our employees to have the same inclusive experience outside of the office as they do at work.

Though our business and employees are located in offices around the world, our belief and policies on non-discrimination are universal throughout Google. We are proud to be recognised as a leader in LGBT inclusion efforts—but there’s still a long way to go.

 

Google has a long history of support for Pride celebrations around the world. We started about 7 years ago in San Francisco, and have since marched in cities from New York to London, Budapest, Dublin, Tel Aviv, Sydney, Tokyo, Amsterdam, and Singapore. And this year finally we are with Korea Parade!

 

We hope ‘Korea Queer Culture Festival 2014’ will be successful. Go for Korea PRIDE!
